Ceremonyat Pura Dalem

Tegallantang, about 3 km from Ubud centre, a very important temple ceremony
will be held on the 17th of January. This kind of temple ceremony only
takes place every 40 or 45 years. The whole village participates in
this ceremony and contributes poultry, rice and other goods. Preparations
for this ceremony already started in September.
On January the ninth they will continue with a delegation of the village
collecting holy water from various temples in Bali and Java.
On the 11th of January the Barong and Rangda from the temple (Pura Dalem)
will be moved another temple in the village (Pura Desa) accompanied
by the whole village as well as the local gamelan assemble.

They will leave the temple at 4 pm. A day later the 12th of January,
the Barong and Rangda will be escorted to the beach, again with the
whole village and gamelan and later return to Pura Dalem.
On the 13ththe whole community will go the temple in Tebesaya. They
will leave at 10 o'clock in the morning.
On the 15th the community will come together to make offerings and prayers
for all the people in Ubud. Many people from of Ubud are also expected
to be there.
Then on the 17th is the day of the main ceremony, with 8 priests being
present but there will also be entertainment, dances music and such.
From the18th till the end of the month of January there will be daily
prayers in the temple. Any one who would like to participate in any
of these events, you are more than welcome but do not forget you need
to have proper Balinese Dress. Ask for advice at the place where you
are staying.
